Photographer in Kona, Hawaii

I’m Sterling, a photographer based in Hilo. I drive over to Kona for sessions along the Kona-Kohala coast: Kailua-Kona, Keauhou, Waikoloa and the beaches in between. I photograph families, couples, maternity, portraits and weddings, shot digitally or on medium format film.

Sessions in Kona

I work around the golden-hour light on the west side, on the beaches and across the lava fields. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and I offer small suggestions along the way to keep things candid. Most are shot digitally for a quick turnaround. If you’d like something different, I can shoot on a Mamiya RZ67 medium format film camera, and I develop black and white film myself.

I’ve been photographing people for over ten years. I worked in New York before moving to the Big Island in 2018.

Booking and Hilo

Weddings and elopements can run from one hour to a full day. Kona sessions include a travel rate, so prices are a little higher than in Hilo. Everything is on the pricing page, and I’m happy to quote anything custom through the contact page. If you’re closer to the east side, see the Hilo page.
